In-depth review

Overview

The IndusInd Bank Legend Credit Card sits in the bank's mid-tier lineup, and as currently offered it is a lifetime free card, which means no joining fee and no annual fee at all. It is a Visa Signature card built around two simple ideas: reward you more heavily on weekend spends, and keep international transactions cheap with a low forex markup. It used to carry complimentary airport lounge access, but that benefit was withdrawn with effect from 7 March 2025, and that change matters when you weigh the card up today.

Rewards and earning

The earning structure is split by the day of the week. On weekdays you earn 1 reward point for every ₹100 spent, and on weekends that doubles to 2 reward points per ₹100. Each reward point is worth roughly ₹0.50 when redeemed against cash credit, so weekend spending works out to about 1% back and weekday spending to around 0.5%. There is also a milestone benefit: spend ₹5 lakh in a card year and you pick up 3,000 bonus reward points. A 1% fuel surcharge waiver helps at the pump, and a buy-one-get-one movie ticket offer worth up to ₹200 is available once each month. The real headline for frequent travellers, though, is the forex markup of 1.8% plus GST, which is well below the 3.5% that most Indian cards charge.

Fees

This part is straightforward. There is no joining fee and no annual fee on the lifetime free version, so there is nothing to earn back and no spend target to hit for a waiver. If you revolve a balance the finance charge is around 3.95% per month (roughly 47.40% a year), so treat this strictly as a pay-in-full card. The forex markup is 1.8% plus GST, and a 1% fuel surcharge waiver applies on fuel spends.

Eligibility

IndusInd keeps the bar modest on paper. You need to be at least 18 years old, and a healthy credit score of around 750 or above will strengthen your application. The bank does not publish a fixed minimum income for this card, so approval leans on your overall profile, any existing relationship with the bank and your credit history. Keep the usual KYC documents handy: PAN, an address proof, and income proof such as salary slips or ITR.

Who it is for

This card makes the most sense for two kinds of users. First, anyone who spends abroad or shops on international websites, where the 1.8% plus GST markup quietly saves real money on every transaction. Second, people who can steer discretionary spending toward weekends to capture the 2 points per ₹100 rate. Because it costs nothing to hold, it also works well as a secondary card you keep purely for forex and weekend use.

Verdict

As a lifetime free card, the Legend asks nothing of you, so almost any benefit it returns is upside. The low forex markup is genuinely good, and the weekend boost is a nice touch for anyone willing to plan around it. The catch is that the removal of lounge access in March 2025 stripped out the one premium perk that used to lift this card above ordinary free cards. If you were eyeing it mainly for lounges, look elsewhere. If you want a zero-cost card for cheap international spends and weekend rewards, it still earns a spot in your wallet.
