In-depth review
Overview
The AU Zenith Credit Card is AU Small Finance Bank's premium offering on the Visa Infinite platform, aimed at frequent travellers and high spenders. It brings together strong airport lounge access, accelerated rewards on premium everyday categories, and a set of milestone and birthday bonuses. The joining fee and the annual fee are ₹7,999 + GST each, but both are structured to be waived if you spend enough, which softens the sting for anyone who already puts most of their spends on a single card.
Rewards and earning
The reward structure is built around a two-tier rate. You earn 5 reward points per ₹100 on dining, grocery and international spends, which works out to roughly 1.25% value back. All other eligible retail spends earn 3 points per ₹100, or about 0.75%. Utilities, insurance and telecom spends earn a lower 1 point per ₹100. Each reward point is worth ₹0.25 when redeemed against vouchers, recharges, merchandise or travel bookings.
There are caps to keep in mind. The accelerated 5-points rate is capped at 5,000 points per statement cycle, and total earning across the card is capped at 25,000 points per cycle. Fuel, rent, education and government payments do not earn any points, so this is not the card to route those spends through.
On top of the base earning, the card adds a 1,000 point milestone bonus when you spend ₹50,000 or more in a statement cycle, plus 2,500 bonus points on one retail purchase during your birthday month. New cardholders also get a ₹1,000 partner voucher on the first retail transaction and 10,000 bonus points on reaching ₹1 lakh of spends within 60 days of setup.
Travel and lounge access
Travel is where this card earns its keep. You get 8 complimentary domestic lounge visits and 8 complimentary international lounge visits per year, at 2 per quarter each, with the international access delivered through a Priority Pass membership. One thing to note: from April 2026, domestic lounge access is spend-linked, so you need to spend at least ₹50,000 in a calendar quarter to unlock the complimentary domestic visits in the following quarter. The 1.99% foreign currency markup is on the lower side, which helps when you spend abroad or shop in foreign currency online. A 1% fuel surcharge waiver applies on fuel transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹1,000 per statement cycle, and the card carries a ₹2 crore air accident cover along with purchase protection of up to ₹50,000 and add-on travel covers.
Fees
The joining fee and the annual fee are ₹7,999 + GST each. The first-year fee is waived if you spend ₹1.25 lakh on retail within 90 days of setup. From the second year, the renewal fee is waived on ₹5 lakh of annual spends. The finance charge on revolving balances is 1.99% per month (23.88% per annum), the cash advance fee is 2.5% of the amount (minimum ₹100), and reward redemption carries a ₹99 + GST fee. Given the fee level, you really want to hit the waiver thresholds to make the card worthwhile.
Eligibility
The card is meant for a premium profile. Applicants should be Indian residents aged between 21 and 60 years with a stable income. AU Small Finance Bank positions this as a high-income product, so approval typically expects a healthy income and credit profile.
Who it is for
This card suits frequent flyers and high spenders who will actually use 16 lounge visits a year and who spend heavily on dining, groceries and international transactions. If you can clear the ₹5 lakh annual spend for the renewal waiver and lean into the accelerated categories, the value adds up. It is less suited to someone with modest or fuel-heavy spends, since the base rate is only 0.75% and several common categories earn nothing.
Verdict
The AU Zenith Credit Card is a competent premium travel and rewards card. Its lounge access, low forex markup and waivable fees are genuine strengths, while the modest base reward rate, the ₹0.25 point value and the earning caps are the main drawbacks. Keep in mind that AU Small Finance Bank trimmed the reward rates from January 2026 and made domestic lounge access spend-linked from April 2026, so the current value is leaner than it once was. If you travel often and spend enough to unlock the waivers, it is still a reasonable pick. If your spending is light or concentrated in non-earning categories, a cheaper card will likely serve you better.
