In-depth review

Overview

The IndianOil Kotak Credit Card is a co-branded fuel card from Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndianOil, built for people who fill up regularly at IndianOil pumps. It runs on the RuPay network, which means it also earns on UPI payments, something most fuel cards simply cannot do. At ₹449 + GST a year, with that fee waived once you spend ₹50,000 in a membership year, it is an easy card to keep in the wallet.

Rewards and earning

The card is at its best at the fuel pump. Spends at IndianOil outlets earn 24 reward points for every ₹150, which works out to as much as 5% value back, and those transactions also get a 1% fuel surcharge waiver. This fuel earning is capped at 1,200 reward points per statement cycle, so the accelerated rate is aimed at regular commuters rather than fleet-level spenders.

Away from the pump, groceries and dining earn 12 reward points per ₹150, capped at 800 reward points a cycle. Everything else, including UPI payments made through RuPay, earns 3 reward points per ₹150, or roughly 0.5%. New cardholders also pick up 1,000 bonus reward points for making a single transaction of ₹500 or more within 30 days of the card being issued. A personal accident cover of up to ₹2 lakh is bundled in as well.

Fees

The joining fee is ₹449 + GST and the annual fee is the same. The renewal fee is waived if you spend ₹50,000 in a membership year, a bar most regular users clear without much thought. Interest, foreign currency markup and other charges apply as per Kotak Mahindra Bank's prevailing schedule of charges, so read the fine print before you revolve a balance or use the card abroad.

Eligibility

Kotak keeps the bar accessible. Applicants should be between 18 and 65 years of age, have a stable source of income, and be resident in India. As with any card, you will need standard KYC documents like PAN and address proof, along with proof of income such as salary slips or an ITR.

Who it is for

This is a card for the IndianOil loyalist. If your most-used pump flies the IndianOil flag and you spend a few thousand rupees a month on fuel, the up to 5% value back plus the surcharge waiver pays for the modest fee many times over. The grocery, dining and UPI earning makes it a reasonable light all-rounder too. If you fill up at Bharat Petroleum or HP more often, or you want broad rewards rather than fuel-first ones, a different co-brand or a flat-cashback card will serve you better.

Verdict

For under ₹500 a year, the IndianOil Kotak Credit Card delivers genuine fuel savings and a rare bit of UPI earning through RuPay. The caps keep the top rate in check and the points are most valuable inside the IndianOil ecosystem, so it works best as a focused fuel card rather than your only card. For IndianOil regulars in 2026, it remains one of the most sensible low-fee fuel picks around.
